The Crumble Tumble
Take your horse’s puzzle skills to the next level
The Crumble Tumble is a five-stage slowfeeder and enrichment puzzle for horses who are ready for a new challenge. Your horse must tip and turn the puzzle to guide the feed through each level—keeping him curious and engaged from the first nudge to the last crumb.
A rewarding
next step
For horses who already have experience with the Spinner, feeder balls or other food toys.
Longer, more
engaging feeding
Turn part of your horse’s daily feed into a meaningful activity that takes time and thought.
Independent
discovery
Let your horse explore and work out the solution at his own pace.
A slowfeeder that develops
problem-solving skills
Mounted on the wall, the Crumble Tumble turns feeding into a challenge your horse can solve independently. To release the food, he must tip and turn the puzzle with his muzzle until the feed has travelled through all five internal levels and drops out.
This gives your horse time to explore, try different movements and discover how his actions make the food move. The result is a slower, more engaging meal that develops focus, coordination, persistence and problem-solving skills.
Even better? It’s a feeder that stays interesting. Our horses return to it again and again—sometimes even when it’s empty—because the process itself is rewarding.

How Does It Work?
The Crumble Tumble consists of a strong, refillable tube with a screw cap on one side. Inside are five angled levels that the feed must travel across before it can leave through the opening at the other end. Your horse moves the feed through the puzzle by tipping and turning the tube with his muzzle.
Five-stage tumble path keeps the feed moving and your horse thinking
Easy to fill through the screw cap and holds up to 500 g of suitable feed
Easy to clean thanks to the wide opening and durable materials
To help your horse succeed from the start, place some food on the final level near the exit before introducing the puzzle. This gives him a quick reward for his first successful movements. Once he understands the basic idea, you can gradually let the food begin farther back in the puzzle.

Introducing the Crumble Tumble successfully
The Crumble Tumble is designed as a next step for horses who already understand that moving an object can release food. If your horse is completely new to puzzling, we recommend beginning with the Spinner. Its separate feed balls allow you to teach the basic movement in small, positive steps.
If your horse already uses the Spinner, feeder balls or other food toys confidently, he may be ready for the Crumble Tumble.
When you introduce it:
Place some food on the final level, close to the exit.
Let your horse approach and investigate the puzzle voluntarily and at his own pace.
Give him time to try different movements without directing or forcing him.
If he makes a movement that helps the food travel towards the exit, you can reinforce him with a few additional pellets while he is learning.
Continue pre-loading the final level until he clearly understands how his movements make the food appear.
Supervise these early sessions and pause if he becomes frustrated or starts using excessive force.
Some horses understand the mechanism quickly; others need more time. Both are perfectly normal. The aim is to help your horse build confidence, persistence and problem-solving skills while enjoying the process.
If your horses live in a group, provide at least one more puzzle or similarly rewarding enrichment option than there are horses and place them well apart. This reduces competition and gives every horse space to participate—or to walk away.

Watch the Crumble Tumble in action:
How slow can the Crumble Tumble go?
In the video below, you can see our pony Plato working with the Crumble Tumble. He’s eating 150 grams of hay pellets—and it takes him a full 14 minutes to get through them. Even then, a few pellets are still left inside the puzzle.
That’s 14 minutes of active puzzling: sniffing, nudging, turning and searching. The same feed served in a bucket would be gone in less than a minute.
Afterwards, Plato walks away calm, focused and satisfied. For me, that is what makes the difference: a small amount of feed has become an activity he can explore, work out and enjoy.
The exact feeding time will vary depending on the horse, the type and amount of feed, and how easily it moves through the puzzle. But the Crumble Tumble turns feeding into a meaningful activity. It slows down intake and gives your horse’s muzzle and mind something to do. It feeds the body while also offering challenge and discovery.
If you want to make mealtime more satisfying for your horse, the Crumble Tumble offers a simple way to add more thought, exploration and enjoyment to his day.

What is the Crumble Tumble made of?
We believe sustainability and safety go hand in hand. That is why the Crumble Tumble is made from durable, horse-safe materials:
An impact-resistant polycarbonate tube
Food-safe adhesive
Durable plastic and stainless-steel components
Our aim is to make puzzles that last, because a longer lifespan means less waste and more opportunities to play. Secure mounting and regular cleaning will help your Crumble Tumble last as long as possible.
Safety, supervision and common sense
Horses are strong and curious. Although we design our puzzles to be as durable and horse-friendly as possible, no product is indestructible.
Our own horses have access to the puzzles day and night. They know how the puzzles work and calmly move on to their hay or their friends when the puzzles are empty. Not every horse will do this straight away.
Always introduce the Crumble Tumble under supervision. Continue supervising until your horse understands the puzzle, uses it without excessive force and can calmly disengage when it is empty.
Can the Crumble Tumble remain accessible without supervision?
Some horses can have ongoing access once they are completely familiar with the puzzle and have shown that they use it calmly. If you want to mount the Crumble Tumble in a place where your horse can reach it without supervision, consider the following first:
- Make sure your horse understands the puzzle, uses it without excessive force and calmly moves on when it is empty.
- Mount the puzzle securely and follow the installation instructions.
- Check the puzzle regularly for wear or damage and stop using it if any part becomes damaged.
- In a group, provide at least one more puzzle or similarly rewarding enrichment option than there are horses, and place them well apart.
- Do not allow unsupervised access if your horse tends to break objects or has a severe itch and may try to rub against the puzzle.
- Consider your individual horse. You know his behaviour and habits best.
- Continue to monitor how your horse uses the puzzle over time. If his behaviour changes or he begins to show frustration, return to supervised use.
